Firearms Transfers

Please keep the following in mind when arranging for transfers.

Under Federal Law, purchasers must:

Be 18 years of age to buy/receive long guns*. (Rifles, shotguns)

Be 21 years of age to buy/receive handguns*. (Semi-automatic pistols, revolvers)

Show a valid Photo ID with Name, Date of Birth, and Place of Residence.

Fill out and sign ATF Form 4473.

A NICS check is then run and upon passing of that, the firearm is transferred.

A valid North Carolina Concealed Carry Permit allows bypass of the NICS check, but the form still has to be filled out.

* Note that this also includes serialized parts for these weapons. Frames and receivers are the most common parts covered under this.
